The Host Homes model provides short term housing for homeless youth in private households. The model is an alternative to shelters and transitional housing. It allows youth to stay in their local community and receive support from their Host. It costs roughly $12,000 annually to fund a Host Home which covers the cost of living expenses (bed, linens, laundry, t.v., computer, phone, food, heat and hydro).
